A spare, always-on PC is our recommended setup for DigiKarmi. Your personal computer works too. Choose the machine that fits how your business runs.

Why recommend a spare PC?

DigiKarmi runs on the computer where you install it. A spare Windows PC can act as your team’s dedicated server PC, keeping business software, connected projects and the assistant together. It also gives desktop tasks their own screen, mouse and keyboard, so they do not interrupt someone’s everyday work.

You do not need a server rack or specialist server hardware. A normal desktop PC with a supported operating system, a reliable internet connection and the software you want to use can be a starting point. We check the actual machine and workflow during setup.

Can I use my personal PC?

Yes. Install DigiKarmi on your personal PC if that is more convenient, especially while trying your first employee. Give it access only to the files and applications needed for the job. Coordinate screen-control tasks with your own work because you and the assistant share the same desktop.

If you close DigiKarmi, shut down the computer or lose connectivity, its local work stops or pauses. Sleeping or locking the PC can interrupt desktop tasks. Keep your normal security controls; plan attended work or a suitable dedicated setup instead of disabling them.

What needs to stay running?

• DigiKarmi must remain open and the computer must remain powered on.
• Internet access is needed for AI requests, WhatsApp connectivity and periodic licence renewal.
• Screen, mouse and keyboard tasks need a signed-in, unlocked interactive desktop.
• The billing software, browser or project folder must be available on that computer.

An ordinary headless web server has no interactive desktop for screenshots and mouse control. The DigiKarmi website and licence service run in the cloud; your employee’s PC tasks run on your chosen computer.

Windows or Mac?

Windows 64-bit is the primary desktop target. An Apple silicon Mac version is also available. Permission prompts, software compatibility and desktop behaviour differ between operating systems. We validate your setup before relying on it for business work. The current installers are pilot releases; publisher signing and Mac notarization are still being completed.

A good first task

1. Agree on one useful, limited task, such as researching a website and saving screenshots.
2. Activate your licence and connect your own AI account through the guided setup.
3. Create an employee, review its rules and connect a dedicated WhatsApp number if needed.
4. Enable PC access only when needed and review the first task together.
5. For billing software, use sample data and check the result before moving to real transactions.
